As Days of our Lives enters its 60th season, viewers are about to see a slew of familiar faces, along with one very familiar storyline.
During the preview for the upcoming season of DAYS, one of the storylines that was teased was the big reveal of Johnny (Carson Boatman) learning that his father, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), raped his mother, Sami (Alison Sweeney, who is returning to DAYS).
In the video that first aired at Day of Days on November 2, 2024, Roman (Josh Taylor) reveals to Johnny that his father is a rapist. It cuts to another scene of Sami telling her son he deserves to know where he came from, then Johnny throwing a punch at EJ after he says, “The only reason I exist is because my father raped my mother.”
It’s getting up to be an epic storyline for the Brady and DiMera family, but if it seems all-too-familiar, that’s because it’s been fine before in Salem. In 2015, Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) confessed to JJ (Casey Moss, who recently returned to DAYS) that his father, Jack (Matthew Ashford), rather her, leading to one of JJ’s most memorable scenes when his anger led him to throwing a chair through the window of the bookstore in the square.

Long before JJ, the son-learning-his-father’s-a-rapist storyline was done on General Hospital when Lucky (Jonathan Jackson) found out that his dad, Luke (ex-Anthony Geary), raped his mother, Laura (Genie Francis). While Lucky didn’t throw any chairs, he did move out of his parents’ house and begin dating Elizabeth, who had just been the victim of a sexual assault.
