The hospital fundraiser continued on the Thursday, April 24, episode of Days of Our Lives. After Maggie tried to get Xander to forgive Philip, she generously bid a million dollars on Chad at the live bachelor auction. Sarah continued to keep her secret as she spent time with Rachel. Kristen’s burst of anger resulted in a shirtless Xander after she threw her drink all over him. But the big news is this new, sensitive version of EJ DiMera.

He’s Trying to Change

EJ DiMera (Dan Feuerriegel) is out of his coma and attempting to change his life. He knows he’s in need of redemption, and most of the town hates him enough to want him dead. That’s enough to change a person. But is it enough to change a DiMera?

He claims he had nothing to do with Rachel Blake’s (ex-Roslyn Gentle) disappearance and had no reaction to Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) telling him about Xander (Paul Telfer) taking over DiMera Enterprises. She wanted his help tackling that problem, and he said no.

He is resigned to his son not forgiving him. He looks downright sad and depressed over his current lot in life. And he insists that he doesn’t remember anything about his shooting.

At the end of the episode, he suddenly sees the camera that Rafe (Galen Gering) planted. Is this EJ’s memory returning? Or does he already know who shot him, and he wants to protect that person? Knowing that the spy camera exists will make it hard for him to protect whoever shot him.

The Ava Vitali Update

Meanwhile, JJ (Casey Moss) is working the case and is hoping to prove that Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) didn’t shoot EJ. So he visits with EJ and asks a couple of questions, which the patient can’t answer because of his memory issues.

Later, the cop gets the ballistics results back. They must have run another test. Again, the results came back inconclusive. They couldn’t rule out Melinda’s (Tina Huang) gun, which Ava (ex-Tamara Braun) threw in the trash in the park. As a result, JJ calls Tripp (Lucas Adams) up and asks to talk to his mom. Unfortunately, she can’t speak with him because she’s holed up in a Tibetan monastery, presumably living her best spiritual existence. She must feel guilty about something, huh?

Is EJ having issues remembering now that he’s awake from his coma? And did Ava shoot him? Do you think Xander will come around and forgive Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier), and when do you think Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) will come clean? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.

Finally, welcome to the new era of DAYS. Here’s what the head writing credits looked like at the end of today’s episode. Soap Hub would like to congratulate the new head writing team, Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford.

We’re looking forward to what’s ahead!
