Since Remington Hoffman showed up at the recent Days of Our Lives’ 15,000 episode celebration, rumors about his return have flown all around the internet. The truth is that late schemer Li Shin could return and tie up some loose ends with his storylines.
15,000th Episode Celebration
In Salem, death isn’t the handicap it used to be. On Days of Our Lives, more characters have returned from the grave than you can shake a stick at, and as soon as we saw Li dead on Wendy (Victoria Grace) and Tripp’s (Lucas Adams) apartment floor, we knew that probably wasn’t exactly the end for him.
Hoffman appeared at the DAYS 15,000th episode celebration in several photos, which has caused all kinds of wild rumors that he’s returning. While no official word has confirmed that, having Li return would help tie up a few loose ends.
Although the former object of his obsession, Gabi (Camila Banus), was sent up the river for his murder, the casting of Cherie Jimenez in an unknown role has wild speculation abound on the interwebs that she’s most likely Banus’ replacement, considering their resemblance is near uncanny. His return would help exonerate Gabi, thereby allowing Jimenez to (hopefully) step into the role.
Wendy and Melinda Have Broken Hearts
And what about Wendy? His poor sister was beside herself and almost moved back to China to comfort her grieving parents. She’s been down in the dumps ever since he was found dead, and his return could make her life a whole lot better.
Before he departed this mortal coil, Li had a budding (yet unlikely) romance with Melinda (Tina Huang). Sure, they each started out with an agenda, but fate and a dating app brought them together and when they finally realized they might have something real, their relationship was cut short. Typically irascible, Melinda had softened when she realized she had some romantic potential. Ever since she helped Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) steal EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker, who had a press conference) baby, she’s been on the back burner, and the feisty schemer needs to come back front and center.
How Would Li Return?
Well, obviously Dr. Rolf (Richard Wharton) would have to be involved since resurrecting the dead is most likely what he got his PhD in. Li worked closely with him in his brainwashing schemes, so it’s highly likely that he had something set up in the event of his untimely demise. Or, it’s even conceivable that he and Rolf cooked up a fake death plot for unknown reasons. How characters on these soaps get around forensics and embalming, we’ll probably never know, but it’s fun when beloved characters return from the grave, and our fingers are crossed for Hoffman to come back!
