In the Monday, June 16 episode of Days of Our Lives, Philip woke up and he told Jada that it wasn’t Xander who gave him the beatdown. And while the Johnson/Deveraux families were grieving John, they also had reason to celebrate and reflect.
Happy 40th Anniversary, Stephen Nichols
Adrienne’s Message
Unfortunately, Adrienne (loved seeing Judi Evans return as her OG character) wasn’t one of those back-from-the-dead miracles that always happen in Salem. Instead, she tells Steve (Stephen Nichols) that she’s with John (the late Drake Hogestyn) and she’s going to do her best to take care of him. This news comforted her brother.
Later, Steve had a crazy good flashback of the time Adrienne revealed to Steve that she was his sister. The Johnson family history is complicated, brutal, and dramatic, so seeing that particular flashback was wonderful. It was such a long time ago!
Steve’s UnRetirement
Stephanie (Abigail Klein) threw a surprise retirement party for her dad at The Bistro. In addition to Stephanie, Steve and Kayla (Mary Beth Evans), Jack (Matthew Ashford), Jennifer (Melissa Reeves), Alex (Robert Scott Wilson), and Jada (Elia Cantu) attended. Flashbacks featured Steve walking Adrienne down the aisle (where’s Justin?), marrying Kayla, and even a fun flashback with Jada’s dad, and Steve’s best friend, Marcus (Richard Biggs).
Ultimately, the gathering turned into an unretirement party when Jennifer asked Steve to find Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) necklace that Doug III (Peyton Meyer) stole. It’s missing, and someone needs to find it. Steve mentioned how Bo (Peter Reckell) talked about him and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) joining Steve in Black Patch, and then called his friend up, and it’s official. Black Patch is still open for business.
Jack’s Birthday
On top of John’s funeral, Steve’s retirement, and the anniversary of Abigail’s (Marci Miller) death, it’s also Jack’s birthday! Unfortunately for Jack, his birthday being so entwined with the anniversary of his daughter’s death makes for bittersweet birthdays. Thankfully, Jennifer tried to make the most of this year’s. Steve also wished his brother a happy birthday.
However, Jack also took the opportunity to make a wish. And he wished that he and Jennifer could visit Salem as much as possible. So it sounds like we could be seeing Jack and Jennifer more and more in the future.

Burning Questions
- Is the show trying to push some sort of conflict between Steve and Alex? Because Alex keeps mentioning how much Steve hates him. Maybe this is a way for the show to try to drum up some drama between Alex and Stephanie down the road.
