Days of our Lives has always had iconic teen crews, and they’ve always had one thing in common: the teen villainess. Here’s how Sophia could join the ranks of the greats who came before her.
When Sophia (Madelyn Kientz, who joined DAYS earlier this year) was first introduced in Salem, it was as Holly’s (Ashley Puzemis) BFF. But if quickly became clear that Sophia had a crush on Holly’s boyfriend, Tate (Leo Howard), and wasn’t as sweet and innocent as she appeared.
Every great villain has a backstory, and Sophia’s is justified. When she asked Tate to the prom, he only said yes to make sure his relationship with Holly remained a secret. But once Sophia overheard Tate discuss his scheme with Aaron (Louis Tomeo), that’s when a villainess was born.
Sophia had already become disliked by Holly after her several attempts to move in on her boyfriend. The icing on the cake was the way Sophia blackmailed Holly into working her summer job or she’d spill the beans about the couple’s secret summer at the Horton Cabin.
This girl is crafty, always with a hint of evil in her voice, and by the way she’s continued getting he herself closer to Tate by bringing him food and consoling him after his fight with Holly, she’s proven she won’t stop until she gets what she believes is rightfully hers.
Sophia is well on her way to joining many notable teen villainess throughout the years. Most memorable is Sami (Alison Sweeney, who is returning to DAYS next year), who showed up in Salem as a teenager girl with her eyes on her sister’s boyfriend, Austin (ex-Patrick Muldoon). Salem’s signature bad girl teamed up with Austin’s brother, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) to try and make their crushes jealous.
The next generation saw teen characters like Will (Chandler Massey), Chad, Abigail, and, of course, Gabi. Although Gabi started out shy and sweet, her growing feelings for Chad pushed her to do unthinkable things, like how someone to stalk his then-girlfriend Melanie (ex-Molly Burnett), resulting in her kidnapping.
Another teenage baddie was Claire, who fell in love with her aunt Ciara’s (ex-Victoria Konefal) boyfriend, Theo, and made it her mission to break them up. A hidden love letter and a sex tape later, Claire had Ciara trapped in a burning cabin, a crime that eventually sent her to Bayview.
