On the October 6 episode of Days of Our Lives, viewers were treated to two separate stories: Stephanie recalling Jeremy’s dark past – and wondering how he can be an elementary school teacher now. And Thomas having a full-on fit at Chad’s confession that he is, just like Rachel charges, dating Cat. At first glance, the two sets of scenes seemed to have nothing in common. But why has the show made a point of noting that Jeremy will be Thomas’s teacher? Could he turn into a very, very bad influence on Tom Horton’s namesake?
Key Takeaways:
- Thomas is furious with his dad and could be looking for a backup father figure
- Jeremy will see Thomas every day
- When Thomas turns to Mr. Horton for advice, will Jeremy’s past actions flare up?
Thomas Won’t Listen to Chad
Thomas (Cary Christopher) is a bit of a little boy lost. His mommy is dead. His Grandma Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) and Grandpa Jack (Matthew Ashford) live in Boston, and when they do visit Salem, there’s always tension in the air. Thomas’ dad, Chad (Billy Flynn), was the only consistent person in Thomas’ life. Until Thomas found out Chad was lying to him, and keeping secret a romantic relationship with Cat (AnnaLynne McCord). Chad tried to explain himself, but Thomas was in no mood to listen. Which means he’s open to other, outside influences.
Jeremy’s New Job
Stephanie (Abigail Klein) asked Jeremy (Michael Roark) if he was still flying airplanes. Nah, Jeremy said, he’s a schoolteacher now. Uh… what? Stephanie wondered how someone with his record could be allowed near young children. Oh, yeah, that. He got his whole record erased. Isn’t that great? (It also means the parents of his students won’t know about it, either.) So now Jeremy will be a long-term substitute at Thomas’ school. What could possibly go wrong?
Teach Your Children Well
Jeremy and Thomas are cousins once removed. Jeremy’s dad, Mike, is Jennifer’s big brother via their dad, Bill, and their mother, Laura (they’re also cousins because Mike’s legal father and namesake is Bill’s brother, Mickey. It’s Salem. All family relationships are complicated). So, it would make perfect sense for Thomas, in his confusion over Chad and Cat, to turn not only to his new teacher but also to his newest family member. Who flies planes! Jeremy is so cool! And when Thomas brings him his problems, we can imagine Jeremy offering solutions… along the lines of what got him in trouble with the law in the first place…. Jeremy is not a good role model. And yet the Salem school system has decided he is….
What do you think now that Jeremy will be teaching Thomas? Let us know in the comments.
