On the February 23 episode of Days of Our Lives, Johnny asked Justin whether there was anything he and Chanel should worry about before finalizing Trey’s adoption. Nah, Justin said. Sophia (Rachel Boyd) abandoned her son at the fire station and didn’t come back to claim him during the required time period, so the court considered that her consent to give up her parental rights. But Sophia is currently in a mental institution following a breakdown. Surely, it wouldn’t be too hard for Melinda (Tina Huang) to demonstrate that Sophia was in no condition to decide whether or not she wanted to give her baby up for adoption, and she certainly should be listened to if she says she doesn’t approve of Chanel and Johnny being Trey’s forever parents.
One Last Signature
Aaron (Louis Tomeo) signed away his rights once Trey was discovered to be his, and Amy (Shi Ne Nielson) approved, as well. (Though, since Sophia turned 18, it was none of her mom’s business.) But without Sophia’s consent, the adoption is null and void. And does Sophia seem reasonable these days? After all, if Philip (Jean-Paul Lavosier) was forgiven all his many, many crimes, because he was deemed to be mentally ill, doesn’t Sophia deserve the same respect?
