On the February 18 episode of Days of our Lives, EJ tried to remember his Italian connection with Cat by having her read to him from the same book as she did back when he was burned and mummified. That book is Wuthering Heights, and the latest movie version is currently playing in theaters, starring Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi. So what do EJ and Cat have in common with these cinematic lovers? A lot more than you — or they — think.
Key Takeaways:
- EJ has a lot in common with Heathcliff.
- Cat has a lot in common with Cathy (even the name).
- They are both doomed.

It Was a Dark and Stormy Night
Wuthering Heights‘ leading man is Heathcliff (no, not the cat… or the doctor from “The Cosby Show”). This guy is rich and dashing and passionate. So far, so EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). Oh, and he is also the worst. He’s arrogant, he’s smug, he’s vengeful, and he tortures the women who love him just because they are stupid enough to feel that way.
Heathcliff is cruel to his wife, whom he only married to spite the woman he actually loves. And he treats the woman he loves equally as badly. While Heathcliff tortures Isabella at home, he drags Cathy out on the windy moors so that they can both be cold and sometimes rain soaked while they proclaim their love… then tear each other to shreds physically and emotionally.
Equal and Opposite
Not that Cathy is much better. She marries Isabella’s brother, Edgar, to piss off Heathcliff, and doesn’t love him any more than Heathcliff loves Isabella. She is just as nasty to him and takes advantage of any moment she can to run off and proclaim her love to Heathcliff. Also, her hatred. They are a total mess.

Is DAYS trying to tell us a little something about what’s in store for EJ and Cat (AnnaLynne McCord)? Are they doomed? Or are they trying to tell us that EJ and Cat actually think Wuthering Heights is a romantic story? At which point, they are really doomed.
