The Real-Life Motorcycle Accident Peter Reckell Survived on His Way to Days of our Lives

Peter Reckell, or rather his Days of our Lives alter-ego Bo Brady, is the man to call when you need a motorcycle-riding hero to sweep you off your feet. Fortunately, the actor who plays Bo is adept at riding the two-wheeled vehicles. Soap Hub has the story on a motorcycle adventure involving the DAYS fan favorite.

Highway to A Hero

One day last week, July 12, was National Motorcycle, which prompted X, formerly Twitter user, to post that “there’s no one who looks better on a motorcycle than Bo Brady except perhaps Hope Brady. Bo was born to ride a [motorcycle]. It’s time to wake our hero up so he & Fancy Face can go for another ride.”

“Actors often have to learn skills to do roles. I always wondered if Peter had to learn to ride motorcycles for the part or if he knew how and that’s why Bo rode them,” queried @cputrbug. That was followed up by @chargebat saying, “Good question…maybe Peter will answer it for us.”

Reckell, active on social media, obliged. “That first motorcycle, in those early shows, was my motorcycle,” he shared. “I was hit by a truck one morning when I was bringing my Harley Davidson into work that was to be used on the show that day. Bike ended up under the truck, I escaped with only bruises!!”

Of course, Reckell’s most famous bike ride, arguably, wasn’t on his Harley at all. It was when Bo, shall we say, “borrowed” a police officer’s bike so he could race to the church and stop Hope (Kristian Alfonso) from marrying Larry Welch (Andrew Masset).

Bo whisked Hope, still in her wedding gown, off on the lawman’s bike, as the two bickered away during their escape. Later, the two cleared the air and Bo explained that he only pretended to push Hope away so he could help his brother Roman. The following year, Hope found herself at the altar again — only this time Bo was her groom.
