Tate and Sophia are still trying to figure out how to deal with their pregnancy on Days of Our Lives. As that drama unfolds, making their lives more difficult, there’s been a change behind the scenes. Madelyn Kientz has stepped out of the role of Sophia and Rachel Boyd has taken over. The newcomer appeared on social media to tell the fans how she managed to nab the part.

She Started at a Steakhouse

The DAYS official Instagram page shared a video of a happy and excited Boyd, writing, “Help us welcome Rachel Boyd to #Days as she takes on the role of Sophia Choi. Don’t miss her debut tomorrow, stream on #Peacock! #DOOL #daysofourlives #days #RachelBoyd.” The actress replied on the thread: “Hii everyone!! I’m so excited to be here ⏳💙 🇨🇦 from Toronto > Salem.”

In the video, she stated, “Hi everyone, I’m Rachel Boyd, and I’m playing the new Sophia Choi on Days of Our Lives. I have such a fun story about coming over to Los Angeles to film the show, just working as a server at a steakhouse in Toronto. I got a call from my manager, and I, like, bent down under the table in the POS stand, and I took it, and she was basically like, ‘So, do you remember auditioning for Days of Our Lives like 9 months ago?’ ” Her manager then told her she got the part and would be moving to Los Angeles.

She’s Like Cinderella

Boyd was incredulous, continuing, “And then that was it, and I was, like, so flustered for the rest of my shift. I was missing people’s drinks. I was like, the steaks were not cooked to order at all. There’s a lot of recooking going on, but the whole day, I was like so happy with all my complaints because I was like, I’m gonna quit like the next shift or whatever.”  She also noted that the uniform Sophia wears when working at The Bistro was almost like the one she wore in real life at the steakhouse.

She ended with, “Now I’m here and I feel like I’m like Cinderella, kind of. It’s, it’s been really fun.” Her co-star Eric Martsolf (Brady) responded, “Welcome to the fam, Rach😉,” and Boyd replied with two hourglass emojis. The fans were very welcoming to the actress, with one writing, “Enjoy your new life at Days, it’s such a great show with a wonderful cast! ❤️👏🎉🎈🎊.”
