If you’re wondering what a Twitter Blast is, you’re not the only one. When news hit actor Peter Reckell that his Days of our Lives fans were doing one today, January 11, 2024, he couldn’t help anyone out by explaining what it was because he didn’t know himself. He did give a status update though.
“Not to sure myself 😬😁,” Reckell said when he caught wind of one fan’s Tweet asking what it was. The event was organized by longtime fan Angie, who often posts classic clips from the soap with a major focus being on Bo and Hope. When last seen onscreen, Bo was in a coma and Hope (Kristian Alfonso) wasn’t leaving his side. Fans want them back and Bo to come out of his coma to reunite with his Fancy Face. (See what Reckell told Soap Hub about a possible return here.)
What Angie posted was, “Would you love to see Bo, Hope, Shawn, Belle, Ciara & Claire return in 2024? Join us for a #BringBackBope Twitter/X blast all day this Thursday and share your favorite memories. Make sure you use the handles and tags listed to ask for #Bope’s return in 2024. Please repost! #Days.” You can see the post below.
It certainly got Reckell’s attention and he’s been joining in on the fun, answering Tweets where he can here and there, including some that have helped shine a light on what’s going on. Considering DAYS shoots six months in advance, there was always the chance he was back and just hadn’t mentioned it because he wasn’t on air yet, but the actor dispelled that theory. X user Marlene asked if he would let people know if he was back and his answer was, “The very moment.”
Another fan asked if it was up to him about coming back — or the writers. He said, “Writers!” While we imagine the writers would love to have Bo and Hope back in town, it’s a bit more complicated than that. Peacock is a streaming service and the budget for the show has certainly been cut since it migrated from NBC. Heavy hitters like Reckell and Kristian Alfonso won’t come cheap. Will the show find it in the budget to bring one of their most popular supercouples back to give them the happy ending they — and fans — deserve? Stay tuned.
