August 2024 seriously turned up the heat with some great soap opera performances. Actors from Days of Our Lives, General Hospital, The Bold and the Beautiful, and The Young and the Restless surprised and entertained us.
For the last week, soap fans voted on the best of the best performances of the month. The results of Soap Hub‘s favorite performer polls are in, and here’s who won for each show.
The B&B actors nominated are worthy contenders. Don Diamont shined as Dollar Bill. No sooner did he learn he had a daughter than he lost her. Tanner Novlan rose to the challenge as Finn dealt with the fallout of Hope’s kiss the only way he knew how — by fighting for his wife. And Annika Noelle continued Hope’s hopeless spiral as she took the initiative to plant a kiss on Steffy’s husband.
Fans ultimately voted Lisa Yamada B&B’s August Performer of the Month. Why? Because her character finally showed her true colors. Yamada was a rock star as Luna shed her sweet and innocent act in favor of sinful, murderous, and treacherous tendencies.
GH’s nominees included Tajh Bellow, whose TJ experienced extreme grief as this surrogacy story ended in tragedy. Meanwhile, Maura West outdid herself as Ava and Kristina’s heated confrontation ended in a brutal accident. As runner-up, Kristen Vaganos was spectacular when Molly unleashed a tornado of anger on her sister at the baby’s funeral. In fact, the newcomer should remember the graveside sibling battle come Emmy time.
Over 50% of GH’s voters in our poll chose Kate Mansi as Performer of the Month for August. She was called on to play a myriad of emotions as Kristina mourned the baby she carried for over eight months. Of course, Mansi played distraught, destroyed, and even desperate beautifully.
In August, each Y&R nominee had to battle demons. Diane (Susan Walters) felt a tremendous amount of guilt about her past as she dealt with the consequences of firing her son. Lucy’s (Lily Brooks O’Briant) teenage existence turned messy as she attempted to make friends with Faith (Reylynn Caster). And Linden Ashby’s Cameron may solely be in Sharon’s head, but he has us all scared.
However, Sharon Case could not be beat. She grabbed 80% of the vote to become Y&R’s Performer of the Month for August. Admittedly, it was tough to watch Sharon lose it as she fixated on Cassie and talked to the Cameron in her head. Her behavior became unpredictable, edgy, and frightening. And we fear for the character who must deal with Sharon’s uncaged rage.
Finally, the DAYS nominees included Madelyn Kientz, who plays Holly’s frenemy, Sophia. We’d love to see more of her because she quickly proved that she can cause drama with the best of them. Serena Scott Thomas has also been around for a short time, yet Fiona engineered one whopper of a drunken disaster. And now Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) and Brady (Eric Martsolf) are paying for it. Julie Dove’s deadly Connie has already made her mark, having stabbed and drugged her way around town.
Once again, Greg Rikaart wins another Performer of the Month. As Leo Stark, he pivoted from Lady Whistleblower to head writer of Body & Soul. He also confused Hattie and Marlena while simultaneously setting up Drag Race watch parties. DAYS fans love Leo’s antics, which is thanks to Rikaart continuing to create magic with every performance.
