Connie’s reign of terror in Salem is over, and so is Julie Dove’s run on Days of Our Lives…for now. From stabbings to poisonings to bombs, Connie ran the gamut of villainous attacks in September. She was so good she left us wanting more.
Hitting the top spot at 49% of fan votes, Julie Dove literally killed it with an incredible performance. She beat Paul Telfer (Xander), Jackée Harry (Paulina), and Serena Scott Thomas (Fiona) for the top spot.
Dove’s over-the-top performance made us gasp when Connie stabbed Rafe (Galen Gerring), and simultaneously laugh yet ready to cover our eyes when she pulled out a saw and planned to use it on Melinda (Tina Huang), whom Connie thought was dead. We also shrank in fear as she went after other victims and yelled “No!” at the TV screen when she framed Everett (Blake Berris) for Rafe’s attack and then suicided the poor guy.
Dove sold Killer Connie and her demented mindset well. Overall, she took the material provided by the storyline and made it come alive through her marvelous acting choices as she played out the unusual arc. We loved watching her talk, as she had full-on conversations with a cutout of Li (Remington Hoffman). Dove was so good we believed that Connie thought she was having the conversations.
Dove even enjoyed playing out Connie’s obsession with Gabi, creating a surprising real-life friendship with Jimenez.
Although Paul Telfer came in second with a fine, vengeance-fueled performance, Dove ran rings around him. Hopefully, Dove will get her wish and Connie will return as a patient of Marlena’s (Deidre Hall). Connie’s schemes made sense to Dove, but it would be interesting to get into Connie’s mind at a later point and find out why she was so psychotic.
