The month of March was an especially dramatic one for Days of Our Lives. Salemites had to deal with secrets, the fallout from multiple kidnappings, massive lies, and corporate shenanigans. But what stood out was what one son learned about his father that changed their relationship, maybe forever.

The Nominees

The March 2025 Performer of the Month nominees each had to dig deep and channel everything they had to play the emotional beats of their characters.

March ended up being much better for Jada than February. She got Rafe (Galen Gering) and her job as a police commissioner back. On the flip side, she sat on a huge secret and fought to bring down the man who caused her and Rafe pain. Throughout all these twists and turns, Elia Cantu beautifully showed Jada’s fight, determination, and inability to give up on getting justice.

John Black (the late Drake Hogestyn) was nowhere to be found, and Marlena started to get more worried than ever. She did everything she could to rescue her husband, even flying to Washington, D.C., and then Estonia, where she faced an old foe. Deidre Hall made us feel every bit of the heartbreak that Marlena was going through.

Meanwhile, in March, the villainous EJ DiMera continued to get worse and worse as he tried to stay out of prison. He stabbed Rafe with a special memory-erasing drug and relished the fact that his nemesis had amnesia. But what stood out were Dan Feuerriegel’s scenes with Carson Boatman when EJ found out that his son knew about how he raped Sami. EJ was absolutely destroyed on those steps when he realized his son turned against him. The Aussie actor simply and wonderfully raised the bar.

The Top Spot

However, Carson Boatman edged out his TV dad by winning 45% of the fans’ votes to Feuerriegel’s 35%. We knew Boatman was a good actor — he has shown his acting chops plenty of times before. However, when Johnny found out that his dad raped his mom and that’s how he was conceived, Johnny completely lost any minutiae of respect he ever had for his dad.

The problem was he also lost any sense of identity. But first, Boatman excelled in his scenes with Josh Taylor and Lauren Koslow. Roman and Kate were the two people who told him what happened that led to his conception. When Boatman played opposite Feuerriegel, he showed the character’s rage, shock, disbelief, and disgust over what his father did.

When Johnny and EJ had a second confrontation, Boatman’s menacing stare at the knife on the table was perfection. We loved every choice he made.
