Days of Our Lives October 23: What Happened Between Johnny and Joy?

It was a Body & Soul kind of day on Days of Our Lives. The big questions for our favorite Salem residents during the Wednesday, October 23 episode were: 1) Did something happen between Johnny and Joy after meeting at the bar? And 2) How devastating was the Johnny and Chanel confrontation going to be? In related news, Stephanie and Alex are about to be in a world of off-the-set trouble for their sexcapades on the set.

Did They or Didn’t They?

While Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins) connected over Joy’s audition, Johnny (Carson Boatman) continued to play the woe-is-me card. Marlena (Deidre Hall), of course, could see something was wrong with her grandson. But he didn’t fess up anything beyond being tired.

Hmm…why was Johnny so tired? Did he and Joy continue their mutual wallowing after they left the bar? Something must have happened because Nancy (Patrika Darbo) found his wedding ring in Joy’s hotel room. Meanwhile, Johnny didn’t even notice his ring was gone.

So, did they or didn’t they hook up? All signs point to something happening. Whatever did, Johnny probably felt justified because of his perceived notions of what allegedly went on with Chanel and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson).

Birthday Surprise! Psyche.

Johnny has been avoiding Chanel on all fronts ever since “catching” her and Alex going all Grey’s Anatomy in that hospital room set. She told Paulina (Jackée Harry) how she hasn’t seen her husband much because he’s been working.

Chanel, however, has been busy keeping secrets because she planned a birthday surprise for her husband on the Body & Soul set. Unfortunately, Johnny chose his birthday to confront his wife about sleeping with Alex. And while his accusations completely blindsided her, Johnny couldn’t stop to read the room. Instead, he unleashed his fury and called her something awful.

Subsequently, he discovers that Chanel has set up a surprise for his birthday. Immediately, Johnny has regrets based on the expression on his face. Lots of them. Do his regrets include sleeping with Joy?

Stephanie and Alex

As an aside, who knew Seth Burns (Ken Colquitt), the head of an entire hospital, had no idea Chanel was Faith? The bumbling under fiver conveniently called Stephanie (Abigail Klein) “Faith.” So, he was speaking his truth the whole time.

Somebody else speaking a variation of the truth was Leo (Greg Rikaart). The writer, formerly known as Lady Whistleblower, passed along dire news. There was a witness to Alex having sex with a costar on the set of Body & Soul. As soon as Stephanie heard this news, she ended any sort of friends-with-benefits relationship with Alex as if that would make a difference. Why wouldn’t she just tell him what Leo told her?
