There’s a new DiMera on the Days of our Lives canvas. Kyle Pryor has been cast in the pivotal role of Dominic Marino, a character who appears to be the never-before-seen-nor-mentioned son of the late Stefano DiMera and his longtime obsession, Marlena Evans.

Here’s What You Should Know about Kyle Pryor

The British actor, who hails from Surrey, England, is no stranger to the soap opera scene, albeit not in the United States. Pryor is best known for his roles as ER doctor Nate Cooper on the Australian drama Home and Away and depraved teacher Laurie Shelby on the British soap, Hollyoaks.

Want to know more about the actor? Here are seven things to know about Kyle Pryor.

1. Pryor always had aspirations of becoming an actor. “The creative arts were always my passion. I always had the dream of going to drama school, but my parents couldn’t afford to send me,” he revealed during an interview with shows.acast.com, noting that he appeared in productions throughout school and college as a hobby. “Then I [moved] to Auckland [New Zealand], and that’s where my foray into the industry began.”

2. He actually got his start in the business working as a stuntman. Among the productions he’s been part of are the films Underworld: Rise of the Lycans, The Warrior’s Way and Power Rangers: Jungle Fury. “[Stunt work] was a necessary step on the journey,” he told shows.acast.com. “I was able to cut my teeth in the industry. I got some valuable experience and met some amazing people as well.”

3. Pryor began training in Taekwondo at the age of 14. He competed in several national competitions, winning the British and English championships in his weight and grade category. He was awarded a Black Belt in 2003.

4. The actor has been in a relationship with his former Hollyoaks co-star Anna Passey since 2019. “We started as friends,” he explained during a shows.acast.com podcast, noting that he “always had a soft spot for Anna” but didn’t want to mess with their collective friendship group. “I wanted to really make sure we got on and everything. So it started as friends… Then it just went from there really. I just think it was sort of meant to be.”

5. Pryor and Passey have a successful side business, Kip Candle Co. “We started Kip Candle Co in November 2019, born from our love of travel, nature, and scent — and one persistent frustration: too many candles and diffusers that left us disappointed the moment we got them home, barely scented at all,” the couple note on their website. “So we set out to make ones that weren’t. High-strength, luxury home fragrance you can actually smell, hand-poured in small batches using 100% natural soy wax, natural cotton wicks, and only the best essential and fragrance oils.”

6. He won the National Award for Most Extraordinary Performance for his portrayal of Alex Puddle in the short film CUZ at New Zealand’s 48 Hour Furious Filmmaking Competition in 2009. The high-pitched magical character, who assigns strange trials to a man who enters a wardrobe portal, was part of a surreal comedy-fantasy-horror narrative.

7. Pryor graced the November 2015 cover of Australia’s Men’s Health magazine. He showed off his ripped abs in the photo, which had him pulling up his white T-shirt. You can check out the cover here.
