In the Friday, February 9 episode of Days of our Lives, chaos and violence reigned in Salem. By the time the credits rolled, Harris was gunned down and the Horton’s beloved house set on fire. Clearly, the forces behind the drug epidemic looked to use deadly scare tactics to neutralize any threats to their operation.
On this mostly peaceful Valentine’s Day eve, Theresa (Emily O’Brien) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) stayed in and talked Jane Austen and addiction. At The Bistro, Wendy (Victoria Grace) and Tripp (Lucas Adams) chatted with Ava (Tamara Braun) about their awkward run-in with her and Stefan (Brandon Barash).
Over at The Pub, Lucas (Bryan Dattilo) wandered around downstairs instead of staying locked up in Harris’s room. Elsewhere, Xander (Paul Telfer) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) bantered about fashion, then he disrupted an electrifying moment between the two. Apparently, his time was better spent going on a run.
Meanwhile, at Doug (Bill Hayes) and Julie’s (Susan Seaforth Hayes) place, Thomas (Cary Christopher) and Charlotte (Autumn Gendron) listened to Julie tell them the story of the Horton house and of Hortons past and present. She made warm, heartfelt references to Tom (Macdonald Carey) and Alice Horton (Frances Reid). Also, Jennifer (Melissa Reeves/Cady McClain) and Jack (Matthew Ashford). Once the kids went up to bed, Chad (Billy Flynn) let Julie know how much it meant to live there. It felt like home especially since he could feel Abby’s (Marci Miller) presence.
The peace and quiet of the evening quickly became a horror show after someone lured Harris (Steve Burton) to the docks under the guise of meeting Ava. A mystery man approached him, someone Harris recognized. Suddenly, this gunman — clad in a tracksuit and fancy sneakers — unloaded two shots directly into Harris’s chest. Then he left the cop lying in a pool of his own blood.
Another mystery man unloaded gunfire at The Pub. Did he hit anybody? Like Lucas or Kate (Lauren Koslow)? Finally, one more mystery man popped up at the Horton House. Instead of using guns to get his point across, he set fire to the place that represented so much for so many people in Salem.
Before Xander went on his run, he wrote a text and then left his phone behind. Why would he leave his phone there? Of course, Sarah found it and she read a message that stated, “Is it done?”
What he wore on his run kind of lined up with one of the mayhem perpetrators. So is Xander just a red herring? Or did that mystery phone caller make him an offer he couldn’t refuse?
