As expected, viewers were treated to another emotional episode of Days of Our Lives. On Wednesday, June 11, Sami made sure her presence was felt at John’s funeral. And before all was said and done, Bo and Hope arrived, and Bo remembered the brother in his heart. The other eulogies were equally emotional, heartfelt, and humorous. Also, Marlena was able to reflect on the love of her life.
World’s Greatest Dad
The tears started as soon as Eric (Greg Vaughan) remembered maintaining a strong relationship even after he found out John wasn’t his biological father. Carrie (Christie Clark) gave such poignant remarks, including a way to describe their blended family. She said, “We may come from many. We are one.” So simple yet perfectly describes their family.
Brady (Eric Martsolf) noted how it was great that years of not knowing who his father was that John got to exorcise those ghosts when he met Timothy Robicheaux (Dick Van Dyke). He called them “two puzzle pieces that fit so well together.”
And then Brady proceeded to keep everyone, especially Belle (Martha Madison), laughing when he talked about one of the most iconic parts of John Black: his eyebrow. He broke down the different categories of eyebrow-raising. It was hilarious and oh so true. He called that eyebrow trick his “single greatest asset.” Brady’s impression of John Black was on point just like Paul’s in Tuesday’s episode.
They also recreated a moment from John and Marlena’s 1999 wedding, with the kids each being a flower. Since Sami (Alison Sweeney) wasn’t there in person (she was there in spirit and virtually), Paul took her place. DAYS played all the emotional beats that kept us in tears, including the group hug with her kids.
Speaking of Sami, Eric read a message from her in which she set the record straight on her relationship with John. She mentioned being a nightmare, but she thanked him for loving their family and for loving her. This loss is just so devastating.

The True Season of Love
Meanwhile, Marlena (Deidre Hall) said she didn’t think she could stand up there and have the strength to publicly say goodbye to John. But she did it. She reflected on how she and John faced all these obstacles over their 40-year love story. And they survived every one of them because of their love. That’s what got them through this.
And she recited a poem mentioning “The true season of love, when we believe that we alone can love, that no one has ever loved so before us, and that no one will ever love in the same way after us.”
She ended it with a heartbreaking and tear-inducing, “Good night, my love.” The actors really gave us their all during these scenes.

Rest in Peace, Brother
Bo (Peter Reckell) finally talked Hope (Kristian Alfonso) into going to the funeral. He had to be there, and he wouldn’t be stopped. And thankfully, they got their in time. Because Bo gave such a heartfelt eulogy of his brother, from their tumultuous (and murderous) beginnings, to John sacrificing his life to save him and countless other people.
Bo said John’s true power was his huge heart and compassion. “He made it possible to save life after life after life. He may not be here with us, but his gift of life will go on and on. THAT’S A FACT.”
Later, with Bo, Hope reflected on her connection with John because of what Stefano put them both threw. Now that the funeral is over, they will continue to celebrate John’s life at the Brady Pub.
