Here’s Why Jude Will Never Be Reunited With His Mommy On DAYS

When Sloan and Melinda decided to pass off Nicole and Eric’s newborn as a baby available for adoption on Days of Our Lives, viewers knew it was only a matter of time before someone — say, Leo — blabbed, and tiny Jude was back in the arms of his biological mother (if not his biological father…yet). But now, a real-life controversy has put a glitch in this Salem reunion.

Time’s Up

Arianne Zucker, who plays Nicole, is suing DAYS now-fired producer Albert Alarr, for sexual harassment. As her case winds its way through the courts, odds are good Nicole will be staying in Europe with an ailing Holly (Ashley Puzemis) for likely longer than initially planned. That means she’ll be away from her husband, EJ (Dan Feuerriegel). And from Jude, the tot Nicole is still sort of convinced is hers but now has something more pressing to worry about.

The Long and Winding Road

So, what does this mean for Jude? Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) is already expressing annoyance with parenting a newborn. Did you know that babies cry? Did you know that they sometimes cry when their parents want to have sex? (Although, for the record, Eric [Greg Vaughan] is wrong. Doctors absolutely do not recommend co-sleeping. It’s considered dangerous.)

She wasn’t at all thrilled with the way her Valentine’s Day revolved around the baby. Sloan may become bored, decide Eric isn’t worth putting up with all this nonsense, and just leave town. Maybe even to England. Where she can’t be arrested…should that ever be an issue.

Family Guy

Eric might end up doing the single-dad thing. Raising a child that he doesn’t even know is biologically his. We can see him getting good and attached to the boy. But then EJ finds out that Jude is actually the baby Nicole gave birth to. We can imagine the two dads getting into a custody battle.

But this story will still be missing a major piece of the puzzle: Nicole. Yes, she loves Holly. Yes, she will do anything to make sure her daughter recovers. But would she not, upon hearing that her baby was actually alive, rush straight back to Salem, leaving Holly in good medical hands for at least a short while? Jude cannot be revealed to be Nicole’s child without Nicole. Given the real-life situation, this likely means it will be a long, long while before this crime is rectified.
