The Friday Days of Our Lives cliffhanger comes courtesy of Jada and Fake Rafe’s wedding—also, Real Rafe’s escape attempt. In the January 31 episode, Javi grappled with whether to spill the secret about “Rafe” cheating on Jada, which led to another Leo big event interruption.
Doomed Wedding…So Far
Everything worked against Jada (Elia Cantu) and Rafe (Galen Gering) getting married. First, EJ held Rafe captive. Second, Arnold (Galen Gering) the doppelganger replaced Rafe. Third, Javi (Al Calderon) discovered that “Rafe” cheated. Fourth, who knew Rita (Maggie Carney) would make a big return and continue to prove how invaluable she is to EJ (Dan Feuerriegel)?
Jada looked gorgeous in her wedding dress. She looked ready to marry her man even though her mom was too sick to come to the wedding and her doctor sister was off saving the world. She initially had doubts about Rafe because of his uncharacteristic behavior. But she got over that after Arnold faked it until he made it. After that phone call, her doubts were gone, or at least gone for now.
Real Rafe attempted to escape captivity. Unfortunately for him, he ran into a major roadblock in the form of Rita, EJ’s assistant. We hadn’t seen her in a minute, but she made her presence known when she tased Rafe. God knows why Rafe didn’t run out of the house as soon as he cleared the DiMera tunnels. Sure, he was weak, but he should have taken his chances. Instead, he’s back in the basement, tied up tighter than he ever was.

Wedding Dreams and Schemes
An outdoor wedding is certainly a choice in January. Yes, they said Javi arranged for heaters to help with the cold, but we still felt cold for the guests, especially the women who knew it was better to look good than to feel good. Some were sleeveless.
Javi struggled with whether to tell the truth. He came clean to Leo (Greg Rikaart), and the boyfriend tried to help Javi work out what he should do. After a very sweet moment with Steve (Stephen Nichols), who was tasked with walking her down the aisle, Jada and “Rafe” were about to get married. Leo engineered yet another major interruption. He wanted to take the burden off of Javi. But he knew that Jada needed to know about her “husband.”
But after Rita took care of Rafe, EJ texted Arnold with the news about corrupt cop Jada Hunter. And “Rafe” stopped the wedding and said he couldn’t marry Jada.
What’s Next
Unless Rafe can figure out how to get untied again, he’s about to spend more time in the DiMera tunnels. This means that EJ’s plan will actually roll out. Jada will be outed as the corrupt cop that she isn’t. And Arnold might become the next Salem Police Commissioner.
