Didn’t Hattie lift the curse off of Body & Soul? Somebody may need to do something more substantial — an exorcism, maybe? Because this show is mega-cursed. Since the reboot began, executive producers Abe and Kate have had to put out fire after fire. Now that Bonnie has been taken care of, a new target materialized at the end of the Wednesday, January 22 episode of Days of Our Lives.
Production Problems
Every production has its issues, disasters, near-misses, and calamities. But Body & Soul has experienced more than its share. The show’s problems have reached an exhaustive level. At some point, something’s gotta give.
In the beginning, it all started with Hattie’s (Deidre Hall) diva ways. She was an amateur actress, so it was unbelievable how she thought she could ask for the world, including wanting Bonnie (Judi Evans) — her friend — fired. Her character was the one who got the boot, and Charlamagne received a one-way ticket down the elevator shaft.
Meanwhile, Chanel (Raven Bowens) and Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) initially didn’t get along because of their past with Allie (ex-Lindsay Arnold), which included a threesome and then Allie and Alex sleeping together. When they became Body & Soul’s super couple in the making, Chanel had a hard time getting over the bad blood.
Unfortunately, Chanel and Alex’s making amends triggered Johnny’s (Carson Boatman) jealousy—big time—to the point that he truly thought Chanel and Alex slept together (it was really Alex and Stephanie). In retaliation, Johnny almost slept with Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins). It was a big ol’ mess that had ramifications. After months of lying about the night they almost slept together, Chanel found out and quit B&S.
Then there was the matter of Leo’s (Greg Rikaart) nemesis, Kerry (Derek Yates), resurrecting Lady Whistleblower. As The Spectator‘s anonymous blogger, Kerry blew up storyline after storyline. He escalated things when he started making vicious comments about Leo and everyone involved with the show. Leo finally outed the Rochester-loving jerk.
When B&S premiered, someone mysteriously sent cupcakes in “celebration.” Instead, they were tainted, and members of the cast and crew got sick—but not too ill. The culprit still hasn’t been identified.
However, we now see someone — possibly a woman — dressed in all black. This person presumably is the one who lured Bonnie to her doom. She fell down the elevator shaft for real. Her next target is Alex.

When Is Enough Enough?
As executive producers, how much longer can Abe (James Reynolds) and Kate (Lauren Koslow) handle these disasters? Abe just had to recast Bonnie, so Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) is stepping into Cassandra’s shoes for the time being.

Meanwhile, Chanel quit. Joy thinks she has something going on with Alex. But now that Stephanie (Abigail Klein) is single, he’s thinking about a reunion. That situation will only get messier. Unfortunately for him, Joy’s already acting clingy, vulnerable, and young.
What’s it going to take for Abe and Kate to call it quits on their investment? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
