On the January 20 episode of Days of our Lives, Dimitri cancelled Gwen’s credit cards, and Gwen ate his fries, and they both snarked at each other and, for the first time since they were introduced, both characters… came alive. With each other. Now we know Dimitri says he never had any feelings for Gwen. But is the gentleman protesting too much?
Key Takeaways
- Gwen and Dimitri showed some real antagonistic sparks.
- Gwen actually fell for Dimitri, but he claimed to be faking it.
- Dimitri and Gwen will free up Leo for Javi.
MORE: We need more friendships like this on DAYS.
Fight On
From the beginning, we didn’t see much chemistry between Gwen (Emily O’Brien) and Dimitri (Peter Porte), and when he came out and admitted it had all been a con to get his inheritance by marrying her, we figured that explained it. But then, we didn’t see much chemistry between Dimitri and Leo (Greg Rikaart), even though they both kept declaring how madly in love they were.
Now, Dimitri is back from being kidnapped, still proclaiming his passion. And we still don’t see it. But when Gwen sat down at Dimitri’s table at The Brady Pub, yelled at him for cutting off her funds to the point where she can’t even afford a book, and stuffed a fistful of his fries in her face while calling him a delightful assortment of names and then dumping a beer over his head, we… finally noticed… something.
Not just on Gwen’s part, but on his, too. Dimitri looks like a sad sack when whining about Leo. But with Gwen, he’s energized, dynamic, and, dare we say it, passionate. For real.
It Takes Two to Tango
DAYS viewers first spied sparks when Dimitri tangoed with Billie (Lisa Reed) on the spin-off, Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem, but he was playing a part, pretending to be an ISA agent while he was really just a DiMera criminal, like all the rest. He also merely went through the motions with Gwen, though she truly fell in love with him.
Could Dimitri have become one of those liars who no longer knows when he’s acting and when he’s being sincere? And could that apply to Gwen, as well?
Move Along
Dimitri and Gwen, quite frankly, deserve each other. They’re both awful people, and we might as well be entertained by them being awful.
Leo, for his part, doesn’t deserve a guy as great as Javi (Al Calderon). But if Javi wants Leo, then Javi should have Leo. For Javi’s sake. And removing Dimitri from the equation will help speed up that process.
