Once again, it was a Body & Soul kind of day on the Tuesday, October 8 episode of Days of Our Lives. Kate, Abe, and Leo prepared to send Hattie’s character, Charlemagne Delacroix, down the elevator shaft while Alex and Stephanie got hot and heavy in a hospital room. These scenes channeled classic and current TV juggernauts to help further the BS drama.
Hattie (Deidre Hall) diva’d herself into a corner. All of her maneuverings to get Bonnie (Judi Evans) kicked to the curb backfired against her. Ultimately, she ended up being the one to diva herself out of a job.
And so there they were at the hospital, ready to film Hattie’s death scene, which involved a blatant nod to classic TV history. Leo (Greg Rikaart) even said as much. Apparently, the show had to explain itself right before Hattie was supposed to walk into the elevator shaft to her death a la Rosalind Shays (Diana Muldaur) on L.A. Law.
It’s understandable why the show felt the need to explain. Even though L.A. Law’s death was one of the most shocking in TV history, it happened over 30 years ago. Rosalind was one of the most hated TV characters ever, and nobody saw that death coming.
Even though Charlemagne was an integral part of the OG B&S, Kate (Lauren Koslow) and Abe (James Reynolds) decided their soap wasn’t big enough for two divas—divas who, mind you, had no business acting like one. Hattie and Bonnie had almost no prior acting experience other than the cons they perpetrated on their victims.
Of course, Hattie refused to jump down the elevator shaft. Her pride wouldn’t let her. Eventually, Hattie walked off the set and then walked out on Abe and Kate, vowing revenge and cursing the production.
Just how cursed is Body & Soul? Are we about to find out?

The planned elevator death was really a two-for-one. That’s also how Friends wrote out Dr. Drake Ramoray on the show’s heightened version of DAYS. Much like Hattie, Joey Tribbiani (Matt LeBlanc) did not want to go down that elevator shaft. Yet, unlike Hattie, he did it anyway. Check out Roark Critchlow (Mike Horton) in the below scene.

Finally, there may be an impact on Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel’s relationship. Chanel (Raven Bowens) was supposed to rehearse the dreaded love scene with Alex (Robert Scott Wilson). Instead, she pulled a muscle in her back and had to go to the ER. That left Stephanie (Abigail Klein) to run lines and the love scene with him.
Seth Burns (Ken Colquitt), who’s hilariously smugalicious, then fed Johnny misinformation about Faith and Arrow’s rehearsal turning real. Johnny assumed he was referring to Alex and Chanel. He doesn’t know it yet, but it was Alex and Stephanie going at it in a hospital room, Grey’s Anatomy style.

Needless to say, Johnny will most probably overreact until he quickly discovers the truth. That won’t stop Chanel from getting angry about her husband’s lack of trust, though. He already sounded jealous of Alex and Chanel when he heard they had decided to be friends. How much worse are things going to get for the adorable couple?
