Eli, Lani, the twins, Jack, and Jennifer returned to Salem for Thanksgiving on Days of Our Lives. With these wonderful reunions came heartfelt moments, heated conversations, and massive heartbreak.

Thanksgiving Day Drama

Heated Conversations

Jack (Matthew Ashford) and Jennifer (Melissa Reeves) arrived home and immediately stepped into drama when they encountered Cat Greene (AnnaLynne McCord). Jennifer especially met the Abigail impostor with much-needed and expected vitriol. There was no holding back for Jennifer, and she emphasized her anger, hate, and resentment with a hardcore slap.

First, Chad (Billy Flynn) had to explain to Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and then to Jack and Jennifer why Cat was standing in their home. Why she no longer faced charges, and why they even had to look at her face on a day that should have been saved for family celebrations. He told them how he would basically use her as bait to get to Clyde (James Read) and find Abigail’s body.

His explanation didn’t appease Jennifer that much. Things got even more heated after Clyde called and chose Thanksgiving to set up the Cat exchange. This meant Chad and JJ (Casey Moss) had to leave right away.

Heartfelt Moments

Eli (Lamon Archey), Lani (Sal Stowers), Jules, and Carver arrived at Abe’s (James Reynolds) and Paulina’s (Jackée Harry) for Thanksgiving. Paulina got all our hopes up when she asked Eli and Lani to stick around Salem and rejoin the Salem PD.

Of course, they said they couldn’t. After all, Eli already had a job that he loved. Meanwhile, Lani pointed out that she can no longer work as a cop with her felony conviction. However, Abe proposed that if she can’t be a cop in real life, she could join Body & Soul and play one on TV.

As flattered as she was, Lani said she had already accepted a part-time job back east at the twins’ preschool. She was really looking forward to starting the new gig after the holidays. HOWEVER…Eli and Lani said they eventually wanted to return to Salem. And they promised Paulina that they would be back soon. What does that mean?

Massive Heartbreak

Finally, it was time to sit down for a hearty Thanksgiving meal. Julie sent Jack to go get Doug (the late great Bill Hayes). When he returned, he had crushing and devastating news for Julie. All Jack could say was, “Julie, I’m sorry,” and she instantly knew her Doug was gone. Jack had to hold her up, and then the focus turned to a framed photo of Doug before the episode faded to black.
