Daytime drama runs in the family for Hank Northrop, who is following in his parents’ footsteps after joining Days of our Lives.

Keeping it in the Family

Northrop, 34, is the eldest son of General Hospital’s Lynn Herring (Lucy) and the late DAYS star Wayne Northrop (ex-Roman). Wayne Northrop passed away last November, and now, TV Insider reports that Hank will continue his father’s legacy in Salem.

While the younger Northrop won’t air until later this year, he has already begun filming, he told TV Insider. “I’ve been acting for a while now, and this was just such a special experience, coming to a show my dad loved so much and that he was so loved on.” Northrop’s acting credits include 9-1-1: Lone Star and S W.A.T.

This also isn’t Northrop’s first time on daytime. In 2017, the actor had a short stint on The Bold and the Beautiful as an Il Giardino waiter.

The actor also shared what he referred to as a ‘cosmic’ experience getting the role on DAYS. “I got a callback and didn’t hear for a little bit. And then the most magical thing happened on my birthday, January 9. I got the call saying, ‘Congratulations, you’ve booked Days of our Lives.’ And I just immediately broke down in tears. It was so cosmic,” he said. “It was almost like my dad had given me a birthday present, the first birthday after his passing, to help me through the trauma of dealing with his passing.”

While not much is revealed about Northrop’s character, it was teased he’ll be working closely with James Reynolds (Abe), who Northrop called “a legend.”
