Fans of Days of Our Lives were stunned earlier this year when news broke that Carson Boatman would be exiting the long-running soap. The shake-up also included Raven Bowens, Leo Howard, and Ashley Puzemis. While Boatman will continue airing into 2027, he has officially wrapped filming—marking the end of a major chapter for both the actor and fans of Johnny DiMera.

Key Takeaways

  • Boatman reflects on his DAYS exit with gratitude—and leaves the door open for a return.
  • Boatman is pivoting to music, teasing new releases after dropping his single “Wild Thing.”
  • Boatman is open to joining General Hospital .

‘I’ll Always Be Grateful

Speaking during a Day Players tour stop in New Jersey, Boatman didn’t hide his appreciation for his time in Salem. “I will forever be grateful for the time that I got to spend on Days of Our Lives. It truly is a special place,” he shared, adding that the cast became like family.

Boatman also made it clear that this may not be a permanent goodbye. “I hope to grace Salem with Johnny’s presence again in the future if they’ll have me.”The actor acknowledged the strong fan connection to Johnny, noting how much it meant to see the character resonate.

Turning to Music After Days

While his exit came as a surprise, Boatman is already channeling his energy into a new creative path—music. “One silver lining is that I’ve been able to focus so much more on music,” he said, revealing he recently released his single “Wild Thing,” with more songs planned through 2027.

For Boatman, music offers something that acting often can’t. “I think acting and music are so connected in their storytelling,” he explained. He noted that acting—especially in soaps—means committing to one role for years. Music, however, allows him to explore endless characters and ideas.

“What’s cool about music is that you can come up with these stories and be these different characters,” Boatman said, emphasizing the freedom to create multiple songs and scenarios at any time. “I think that’s so unique… there’s nothing else like it in the world.”

Could He Jump to General Hospital?

With Johnny’s future uncertain, fans are already wondering what’s next—and Boatman isn’t ruling anything out. The actor expressed interest in potentially joining General Hospital, – he would make an excellent recast of the role of Spencer Cassadine. “I would love a jump to GH as well,” he said. “I’m absolutely open to seeing what life is like in Port Charles.”

Catch The Band

Boatman, along with his former DAYS co-stars Eric Martsolf (Brady), Brandon Barash (Stefan), and Scott Reeves (Jake), is currently touring with The Day Players, who bring their fun show to the fans across the United States, courtesy of Coastal Entertainment. Wally Kurth (Justin) is taking this year off, and Reeves is filling in for him. The guys just announced they will be hitting the road again later this year for a special holiday show.
