Eric Makes a Heartbreaking Decision on Days of our Lives

Sloan confessed to Eric that baby Jude belonged to E.J. and Nicole, causing him to make a bold decision on the May 24 episode of Days of Our Lives. Meanwhile, E.J. bided his time hoping she would acquiesce to his ultimatum.

He’s Beyond Angry With Sloan

Things finally came to a head after Sloan (Jessica Serfaty) confessed to Eric (Greg Vaughan) that their adopted baby, Jude — now officially played by newcomer infant Oliver McLarty — was actually the not-dead child of EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) and Nicole (Arianne Zuker). Greg Vaughan should be praised for his reaction as Eric, who struggled through several emotions, including shock, heartache, feeling betrayed, and extreme anger. Sloan tried pitifully to explain that when Dimitri brought her the baby, she thought keeping it would show Eric how much she loved him since she could no longer have a child of her own. Seriously? Sloan has some major issues here.

Through his tears and red-faced anger, Eric packed up the child and left to bring him to his rightful parents…but not before telling Sloan not to leave and that when he returned, she would pay for what she did. What the ex-priest will do to her is anyone’s guess, but people can only be pushed so far before snapping, even clergymen. The look of unadulterated rage on Eric’s face showed that he was beyond livid and had finally reached his breaking point with her.

Waiting for This Moment

Nicole and EJ were trying to enjoy their day of leisure, but she noticed that he was on edge and kept checking his watch. He told her he was expecting a special “delivery.” Johnny (Carson Boatman) and Chanel (Raven Bowens) swung by to tell them that Chanel was pregnant, and Nicole was genuinely happy for them. But, she later told E.J. that the pain of losing her own baby was never going to go away, and EJ checked his watch again as he was hugging her — clearly hoping against hope that Sloan would come through after his ultimatum and give the child back to them. Eric soon showed up with Jude, and it was heartbreaking to watch him try to utter the words. He finally explained that Jude was their baby, and an incredulous Nicole took the child into her arms. The scenes were powerful and heartbreaking, and while this is only round one of the baby swap secret (round two is everyone learning that Eric is actually Jude’s bio-dad), it’s going to be uplifting to see Nicole finally happy again. But the fallout is still waiting to happen and both couples will ultimately be shattered in the end, and will have tough choices to make when they learn the whole truth.
