EJ woke up and, for now, he said he didn’t remember who shot him. That’s okay, he has Mama Susan on his side, having vibes about Gabi being at the DiMera house the night of the shooting. Meanwhile, Johnny, Sophia, and Tate started to show doubts as Mrs. Choi finally approved the adoption on Tuesday, April 22, in the episode of Days of Our Lives.
EJ’s Memory Issues
Once EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was awake, he could remember that Belle (Martha Madison) stabbed him in the back the night he was shot. The other thing he remembered was Chanel (Raven Bowens) ripping him a new one. But he also acknowledged that after her rant was over, she left. So, he apparently couldn’t remember who shot him.
However, in Horton Town Square, Susan (Stacy Haiduk) and Gabi (Cherie Jimenez) clashed in front of Cat (AnnaLynne McCord). While Susan called her “mean, mean, mean,” Gabi grabbed Susan’s wrist. That’s when Elvis’ mom had one of her psychic vibes, and she concluded that Gabi was at the DiMera mansion the night of the shooting, which was true. Not that Gabi fessed up to that.
But we could totally see EJ running with Gabi being the attempted murderer because they hate each other, and he knows that she has a perfect motive. And if he remembers and wants to protect the actual shooter — potentially Johnny (Carson Boatman) — then EJ will once again try to railroad Gabi into a life behind bars. That’s assuming he remembers who shot him.

Adoption Doubts
The adoption process continues to be on shaky ground for several reasons. All they need is Johnny’s signature, which seemed in jeopardy by the end of the episode. Johnny could be feeling insecure about being a dad. After all, his own dad is a terrible role model. Or he was the one to shoot EJ, and he knows that secret will blow up someday. Regardless, Johnny is going through a tumultuous time, and becoming a dad might be the last thing on his mind.
Johnny wasn’t the only one having doubts. Tate (Leo Howard) and Sophia (Rachel Boyd) bonded at Tate’s place. They were actually really cute as they looked up the next steps in a pregnancy, like Lamaze classes. When the baby kicked a couple of times, they were overjoyed, and they got this look on their faces like maybe adoption wasn’t the best option after all. Maybe they wanted to raise the baby together.
They had that look on their faces when they signed the adoption papers in front of Belle, Paulina (Jackée Harry), Amy (Shi Ne Nielson), and Chanel. But, again, there’s a loophole. Johnny hasn’t signed on the dotted line, so the adoption isn’t complete. There’s still time for people to change their minds.

If that does happen, we will certainly feel bad for Chanel. She was the one exhibiting pure joy over the adoption. If it doesn’t go through, if Johnny, Tate, or Sophia puts a stop to it, she will be devastated. A new era of DAYS starts Thursday. Anything could happen and anything could change at this point.
