Despite Doug III clearly feeling guilty about stealing Julie’s grandmother’s necklace, he had Leo sell it. Ultimately, he didn’t even end up with enough to satisfy the debt he needed to pay off. So, after a disappointing result in the Friday, December 27 episode of Days of Our Lives, our only hope is that Leo salvaged something from this mess.
Leo (Greg Rikaart) is pretty down these days, considering the new and faux Lady Whistleblower continues antagonizing him and needling him with her spoilerific articles and taunting insults.
What better way to perk himself right up by doing something good for the world? Well, not the world per se, but the Hortons. Is there a scenario where Leo actually ponied up the money for the necklace himself because he fancied it so much? After all, he even wore it and appreciated it for what it was — a gorgeous, “perfect” piece of jewelry.
Even though he told Dougie III (Peyton Meyer — why his character fits right in) to let go of the guilt and do what he needed to do to pay off his debtors, we’re hoping for one more holiday miracle. Now that Leo is a big-time head writer for Body & Soul, maybe he put together the money he handed Doug III for the necklace. Hopefully, he lied to him about knowing someone who would fence it. Instead, he wanted to keep it for himself.

Or, better yet, instead of keeping it, he could return the necklace to Julie (Susan Seaforth Hayes) and remove a little of Julie’s heartache. That way, Leo would rack up some good karma, which he desperately needs.
It would be great to get more details on Doug’s debt. How much does he owe? How did he get into this predicament? To whom does he owe the money? Without this information, it’s hard to feel even a smidge of empathy for the guy. It’s easy to instead feel a type of way towards him because he is lying to the face of someone who just lost the love of her life. Who could do that?

It’s unclear if Doug III was even telling the truth about why he was in jail. At this point, nothing that comes out of his mouth can be trusted or believed. How is asking Julie for help worse than stealing her nostalgic and priceless necklace?
Can Leo do us another favor and also warn Holly (Ashley Puzemis) about Doug? At least for now, until we learn more about the guy.
