Teasers suggested that an old acquaintance of EJ’s would pay a visit. And wouldn’t you know it, in the Tuesday, December 24 episode of Days of Our Lives, Rafe’s evil twin Arnold Feniger showed up at the DiMera mansion fresh from Argentina. He instantly became a problem for EJ and, obviously, for Rafe and Jada.
What You Need to Know
In 2011, Arnold Feniger was a low-level criminal Stefano (the late Joseph Mascolo) and EJ (then James Scott) hired to break up Sami (Alison Sweeney) and Rafe (Galen Gering) and make their lives hell. After plastic surgery transformed Arnold (also Galen Gering) into Rafe’s spitting image, he assumed Rafe’s identity.
The switch happened after Rafe was hospitalized following a car accident. Needless to say, Fake Rafe, or Fafe, wreaked major havoc. He replaced Rafe in every way, meaning he raped Sami. He also killed Nicole’s (Arianne Zucker) mother, Fay Walker (Valerie Wildman). Yes, he was the one responsible for smothering Faye with a pillow in the hospital after he threw her down the DiMera stairs and then tried to inject an air bubble into her IV.
Eventually, Fafe’s reign of terror ended with his arrest. However, when he was in jail, inmates thought he was FBI Agent Rafe Hernandez and beat him to death.
So, until now, everybody thought he was dead.

How Feniger Lived
As far as EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) was concerned, Feniger was off playing dead in the wilds of Argentina. After all, he and Stefano helped fake Arnold’s death (thank you, Dr. Rolf!) and then disappeared the man to live his best life far, far away from Salem. In new flashbacks, instead of a beatdown, the inmates shanked him.
Apparently, the reason for this subterfuge was that the DiMeras wanted him alive should they need his services again. Well, Arnold is back in Salem to make a withdrawal from the flush Bank of DiMera. And EJ doesn’t look happy.

Who Needs to Watch Out
Obviously, Fake Rafe is untrustworthy. And even worse, he could give two you-know-whats. He’s hardcore pressing EJ, and he’s going to get the DiMera’s money if it’s the last thing he does. Apparently, it’s expensive in Argentina, where he lives. It took twelve years to run out of money the first time. He is going to need a lot more for the next one or two decades.
This means Rafe is in trouble. When Arnold is around, it means that Rafe isn’t. He just spent an extended amount of time in a coma. Does this mean he’s about to spend more time out of the action? And if Rafe needs to watch out, Jada (Elia Cantu) definitely needs to watch out as well.
We know what happened with Sami last time. And now Jada’s engaged to Rafe. Yes, she’s the police commissioner and a great detective. Still, nobody will think their significant other is acting weirdly because a doppelganger of your fiancé has replaced him, not even in Salem, although everybody probably should.
Honestly, everybody needs to watch out because if somebody accidentally overhears a sensitive conversation as Fay did, then they will face a desperate Arnold, and that won’t end well.

What do you think of this doppelganger development? How about the Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier) /Stephanie (Abigail Klein) /Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) triangle? Is it even a triangle? And who thinks Paulina (Jackée Harry) needs to take a hands-off approach and let Jada run the department and the cases as she sees fit? Let us know your thoughts in the comments.
