Cady McClain and Cary Christopher share a touching bond as Jennifer Horton Deveraux and Thomas DiMera on Days of our Lives. The grandmother and grandson’s scenes together are always warm, heartfelt, and incredibly sweet. But did you know the two actors have a cool secret connection off-screen?

Cady McClain and Cary Christopher Fun Fact

Christopher recently shared the information on his Facebook page, labeling it a “fun fact about me and Cady McClain.” It turns out that Christopher’s manager Sandra Berney at Evolve Talent Management is the real-life mom of actor Tate Berney, who played AJ Chandler on All My Children. In fact, the younger Berney was on the former ABC soap for some 87 episodes from 2010 to 2011.

“And guess which awesome actress played his grandmother?? Cady McClain!” posted Christopher, noting that it’s the very same awesome actress who’s now playing his loving nana on Days of our Lives. It was back when McClain was playing Dixie Coonie Martin on AMC opposite Michael E. Knight’s Tad, and she had numerous scenes with Berney.

Flash forward to over a decade later, and McClain is now working opposite Sandra Berney’s client, Cary Christopher. And, yet again, she’s portraying a loving and devoted grandmother.

Calling McClain an “awesome actress” is more than just a random compliment. The actress has, after all, garnered three Daytime Emmy awards during her long career in the medium. Her first came in 1990 when she won the trophy for Outstanding Juvenile Female in a Drama Series for her role as AMC’s Dixie. McClain took home the gold for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series in 2004 for portraying Rosanna Cabot on CBS’ As the World Turns. Then, in 2022, McClain nabbed a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Guest Performer in a Drama Series for her recurring role as Jennifer on DAYS. In the process, she became the first female performer to win Daytime Emmys for three different soaps. If that’s not awesome, nothing is.
