Dick Van Dyke, beloved for his runs on the CBS series The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis Murder, has a long affiliation with the eye network. However, soap fans will always hold a special place in their hearts for the actor’s turn as Timothy Robicheaux on Days of our Lives. Now, the actor is receiving a very special honor.

Dick Van Dyke: A Time to Celebrate

Deadline reports that the veteran showman is going to be honored on Thursday, December 21, in a special that airs from 9 to 11 p.m. ET. Dick Van Dyke 98 Years of Magic will air on CBS and stream on Paramount+.

Watch for the tribute to revisit the iconic sets from The Dick Van Dyke Show and feature musical and dance performances. There will be a special holiday number. In addition to his TV credits, Van Dyke has appeared in the films Mary Poppins, Bye Bye Birdie, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. He joined the cast of The Carol Burnett Show as a series regular in its final year after long-running cast member Harvey Korman vacated the show.

When Dick Met Carol

Van Dyke appeared in 10 episodes in the 11th and final season of Burnett’s legendary comedy show. He created the part of Dan Fogarty, who was a pal of Ed Higgins, the long-suffering husband of Burnett’s classic character Eunice Higgins.

“I started with CBS under contract in 1955 with the CBS morning show, then The Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis Murder,” Van Dyke says. “I’ve been with the CBS family for almost 70 years, and I couldn’t be prouder. I’m incredibly honored that CBS will be throwing a 98th birthday special for me. Can’t wait to be part of the show!”

Dick Van Daytime

Van Dyke added daytime drama to his list of genres earlier this year after he joined the cast of DAYS as Timothy Robicheaux. During his stint on the show, he did a musical bit with Bill and Susan Seaforth Hayes (Doug and Julie Williams) and was revealed to be the birth father of John Black (Drake Hogestyn).
