While Carson Boatman’s alter-ego on Days of our Lives isn’t poised to become a father anytime soon, the real McCoy just welcomed his first born with wife Julana Dizon.
People reports that Boatman and Dizon are now the proud parents of daughter Ava Rey, who was born on Monday, December 18 in Los Angeles; the newborn weighed in at 8 lbs., 5 oz., measuring 19 in. long.
“We are both absolutely over the moon about starting our family and being new parents!” the couple shared. “It truly feels like we’ve found something we didn’t even know we were missing in our lives. The only way I can think to describe it is pure joy, but it’s really something more than that. We are blessed and humbled to have been chosen to be Ava’s parents. What we are now lacking in sleep, we have gained tenfold in love.” The couple also shared the news on their Instagram accounts.
Ava’s middle name, Rey, is named after Dizon’s father, Reynaldo Dizon, who died in November following a battle with lung cancer.
Soap Hub caught up with the new parents several days before she was due to give birth. They were enjoying their last night out before the baby’s arrival at the reception for nominees on Wednesday, December 13. Boatman said, “Brandon Barash [Stefan] just had his baby about three months ago, so we’re actually getting a lot…as their baby is growing out of clothes, we’re getting them now for ours.
“A lot of…just tips and then you have Eric [Martsolf; Brady] and Wally [Kurth; Justin], who are both fathers as well, so I’ve got a good support system. We actually just got a bassinet from Greg Rikaart [Leo]; he brought one in at the studio.”
The parents announced their impending addition on Instagram some four months ago with a pic featuring a sonogram and the caption, “Boatman, party of 3. Coming December 2023.”
Subsequent posts kept fans abreast of baby’s progress and the adventures the family was embarking on. In one, Mommy, Daddy, and “baby bump” were seen living it up on beach. In another, Julana put Boatman to the test by strapping pumpkins to his chest and stomach and challenging him to perform “simple” tasks such as putting on shoes and getting from a sitting to standing position. Good fun, and a lesson all in one.
Soap Hub sincerely congratulates the new parents on their new bundle of joy.
