In recognition of the anniversary of the passing of his father, food czar Jerry L. Barash, Days of our Lives star Brandon Barash penned another heartfelt missive.
Brandon Barash Remembers His Pops
“Pop, How has it been 6 years? Feels like yesterday and an eternity all at once,” began the actor. “Grief is the bill we pay for the love we’ve received in this life. Read that again.
“The more abundant the love, the harder the grief stabs,” continued Barash. “Instead of being sad today…which I’ve spent enough time doing, believe me…I’m going to make the choice to find gratitude through the grief. Gratitude that we loved each other so deeply that six years later, the wound still feels fresh — is still open. Grateful that your love reverberates through me and my future generations…that grief’s knife is infinitely and otherwise unfathomably sharp. Grateful that when I look into my new son’s eyes, I see you, Jerry Lee.
“Yes, my heart shatters over and over again when I think that Joaquin Lee will never physically know you, and you him. But those pieces of my heart, love’s shrapnel, find their way back together again when I realize that he does know you…that your love echoes throughout the ether of my soul, as it does his now. And Harper’s. What I’m saying is, thank you, Pop. Thank you for loving me with such ferocity that it hurts this badly. Forever grateful for that. I’ll sip some [Oban Whisky] tonight in your honor.”
Brash first eulogized Jerry in December 2017. At the time he wrote that he was, “Gutted,” “shattered,” and “heartbroken.”
On June 7, 2021, Barash marked what would have been his dad’s 70th birthday by posting a photo of the two of them and insisting that, despite the day being, “sad,” and “heavy,” he was, “Uplifted by the solace and power I find in the love he left behind.”
Soap Hub extends our deepest condolences to Brandon Brash and his family.
