It’s hard to think of Alison Sweeney without associating her with Days of our Lives and Sami Brady DiMera, or one of her popular Hallmark movie roles, such as Hannah Swensen.

But, before doing any of these long-term endeavors, Sweeney had a booming career as a child actress, booking roles on such shows as Simon & Simon, St. Elsewhere and I Married Dora.

One particular guest role stands out to the actress and for Throw Back Thursday, Sweeney took to Instagram to recount her experience.

“Throwback to the incredible opportunity I had as a young actor to work on the 80s sitcom Webster starring a very talented and kind actor, Emmanuel Lewis,” Sweeney wrote.

In the show, the actress played a school friend of Webster named Beth, and the comedy tackled a very serious issue.

The episode, titled “Uh-Oh Feelings,” dealt with Webster and his friends learning how to deal with a substitute teacher who is also a child molester.

“The exec producers of the show recently sent me this newspaper clipping from when the episode aired,” Sweeney wrote, adding the image of the preview story. “It was one of the earliest shows to tackle difficult issues like child molestation. I am so proud to have been a part of opening the door to that kind of storytelling.”

The actress was thankful that her parents let her do it.

“Also, Proud of my parents and grateful to them for believing I was mature enough to handle the content,” Sweeney wrote. “And so honored to still be friends with brave and talented producers who were willing to take a chance.”

As one fan revealed under Sweeney’s post, the episode, which is episode 16 during season 2, is currently available on Prime Video, so fans can see Sweeney in one of her earliest acting gigs.

Of course, Sweeney is no stranger to tackling serious issues on DAYS, and Salem is grateful to have Sami home, even with all the trouble she can bring.
