Days of Our Lives (DOOL) premiered on this date, November 8, back in 1965 and today the show celebrates 52 years of Salem drama.
DAYS was created by Irna Phillips, Ted Corday (father of current executive producer Ken Corday), and Allan Chase and focused on the Horton family, which was anchored by Tom (film star Macdonald Carey) and his loving wife, Alice (Frances Reid). Both actors stayed with the show until their deaths.
The soap is slowing seeing an uptick in viewership thanks to the guidance of new head writer, Ron Carlivati, who many see as righting the wrongs of previous head writers. Here’s hoping the show will be around to enjoy another 52 years.
Several DAYS stars–both in front of and behind the camera–took to Twitter to show their gratitude to the show they call home. You can see their well wishes below.
