Happy birthday, Christopher Sean.
John Black’s son, Paul Narita, is missed by those who love him in Salem and especially by fans of Days of our Lives, but his portrayer, Christopher Sean, has every reason to celebrate.
That’s because Sean was born on October 25, 1985, in Oak Harbor, Washington, to Sayuri and Patrick Friel, which means that today this handsome star is turning 38 years old!
He was a military brat, with his father in the Navy. When his dad was away from home, he would put himself on video reading books to his children and their mother would send recordings of her kids to her husband — just one of the reasons Sean has always been comfortable in front of the camera.
Growing up, actor and martial arts pioneer Bruce Lee was an influence since there weren’t many people for him to relate to in the entertainment industry. The talented young actor speaks Japanese, which he learned when his father was assigned to the USS Tripoli, and is trained in boxing, Taekwondo, wrestling, Jujutsu, and Mixed Martial Arts.
One of his first jobs was as a waiter on The Bold and the Beautiful. Christopher Sean had recurring roles on The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and Hawaii Five-0, but it was in 2014 when he won the role of Paul on DAYS, that endeared him to Salem fans everywhere.
He left DAYS in 2018 for the lead role of Kazuda Xiono in the animated series Star Wars Resistance. That lasted for 43 episodes. He also voiced Asu in Star Wars: Visions, played the recurring role of Brandon in the series You, LAPD RHD Detective Jack Tanaka on NCIS: Los Angeles, and he voices Dick Grayson/Nightwing in the video game Gotham Knights. He also returned for the second installment of Days of our Lives: Beyond Salem and has made a couple of appearances in Salem recently too.
