When Arianne Zucker’s Nicole Walker left Salem at the end of July, Greg Vaughan’s Eric Brady went with her. Eric, Nicole, and their son Jude hopped on a plane to Paris for a brand new life where they could be together without any interference from EJ. While Vaughan’s departure from Days of Our Lives was a surprise, we knew his character could reappear. Starting the week of September 2, Vaughan returns for a two-month stint.
Welcome Back, Eric Brady
Teasers suggest that Eric’s return is due to family drama. On Thursday, September 5, Eric (Greg Vaughan) is back to support his brother. Once again, Brady (Eric Martsolf) has made a mess of his life, although it’s only partly his fault. But first, the former priest will visit his mother, Marlena (Deidre Hall). Hopefully, he’ll update her on what’s happening with him, Nicole (Arianne Zucker), and Jude (Oliver McLarty) while living in the City of Love.
As for Brady, he’s currently off the wagon and is being framed for running over Sarah (Linsey Godfrey). Of course, fans know that Xander’s mom, Fiona (Serena Scott Thomas), is the one who drove drunk, hit her son’s now-paralyzed wife, and left the scene of the accident. Then, on Friday, September 6, Eric has — what else — a nasty run-in with EJ (Daniel Feuerriegel). After all, there’s no love lost between Eric and the man who kept the secret of Jude’s paternity from Eric and his now ex-wife Nicole.
Shortly after Eric and Nicole left Salem for Paris on July 29, Vaughan posted a now-defunct story on his IG, confessing that his leaving wasn’t his choice. However, it became clear that he and his character would ultimately make a return appearance.
