Reality and Daytime TV star Chrishell Stause is about to venture from Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles, CA, to Ramsey Street in Erinsbourough, Melbourne. That’s the fictional neighborhood at the heart of the iconic Aussie soap Neighbours. Stause joins the Amazon Freevee series as a special guest star.
A Return To Her Daytime Roots
Before causing drama on Netflix’s Selling Sunset, Chrishell Stause gave standout performances on Days of Our Lives and All My Children, and she also spent some time on The Young and the Restless. So this Amazon Freevee and Fremantle announcement about her joining the Neighbours cast is really a return to her acting roots. (Here’s what you need to know about Neighbours)
However, she hasn’t started filming yet. She’ll head to Australia in July to begin her stint as a special guest star. She’s set to play Yasmine “Yas” Shields, a glamorous and successful businesswoman pursuing an exciting new opportunity. Stause shared in a statement:
“Coming from the world of soaps in the U.S., it’s back to my first love in the entertainment industry. They pitched me an idea for a character, and I was immediately excited to figure out a way to make it happen. Ramsay Street here I come!”
Stause isn’t the first American actress to take on special guest star status on this Neighbours reboot. The OC‘s Mischa Barton helped introduce Neighbours to U.S. audiences when Amazon Freevee revived the daily drama a couple of years after an Australian network canceled the soap. The British-American actress played Reece Sinclair, who turned out to be the daughter of a megamillionaire businessman who was into hotels. Her character had a mystery to solve, plus she fell in love before departing the show.
So it’ll be exciting to discover what trouble Stause’s character will cause and/or dodge. Also, whose eye she will catch while she is down under?
Neighbours Executive Producer Jason Herbison expressed excitement over Stause joining the show. “We are thrilled to welcome Chrishell to the cast of Neighbours. We created a character especially for her and we can’t wait for her to bring the storyline alive. Expect intrigue and surprises — and many implications for the residents of Ramsay Street.”
Neighbours releases new episodes daily, Monday through Thursday, on Amazon Freevee in the UK and the US. Previous seasons and over 100 iconic episodes are currently available to stream on Amazon Freevee. The Aussie soap is also up for a couple of Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Drama Series. The awards will air on June 7.
Soap Hub congratulates Chrishell Stause on her new role and can’t wait to see her pop up on Neighbours.
