Body & Soul has had a terrible effect on Johnny DiMera. Since joining the reboot as director, he’s acted like a jealous fool. He cheated on Chanel. Now, he’s doing what he can to keep his secret. He’s even letting his dad take care of the situation for him. At the end of the Friday, December 6 episode of Days of Our Lives, Chanel walks in on a volatile and damning conversation.
No Time for Cheaters
It was a self-care day for Lani (Sal Stowers — who speaks out on a potential DAYS return), Chanel (Raven Bowens), and Paulina (Jackée Harry). Obviously, Chanel’s problems were going to come up. Paulina clearly harbors anger towards Johnny (Carson Boatman), and who can blame her? Chanel still seems a bit conflicted, but she’s doing her best to move past the way her husband acted and what he called her.
Lani empathized with Johnny and backed up her opinion with an example. She talked about the time she cheated on JJ (Casey Moss) with Eli (Lamon Archey). Ultimately, Lani and JJ weren’t able to get past her indiscretion. Plus, the night she slept with Eli was when she conceived David Abraham.
Are Chanel and Johnny doomed? Chanel expressed her relief that Johnny didn’t do anything stupid while he thought she was cheating on him. “If he had done that, that’s just something that, no matter how much I love him, I don’t think I could live with that.”
There’s a little bit of breathing room in her statement. She did say, “I don’t think.” Having said that, we know Chanel. Cheating is a betrayal, and she couldn’t live with it. She has kind of had to talk herself into forgiving Johnny for the cheating you-know-what comment. Those were words you can’t un-hear.

EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) clued Johnny in on his plan to get rid of Joy (AlexAnn Hopkins). Johnny initially reacted appropriately at EJ buying out Joy’s contract in exchange for her hightailing it out of town. Eventually, he accepted the assistance, as wrong, immoral, and devious as it was.
By the time Alex (Robert Scott Wilson) showed up at the DiMera mansion (with his shirt on), Johnny towed the company line. He told Alex that Joy could be recast. That was cold. What’s becoming of our Johnny? Is he leaning in on the DiMera? Or maybe he is tapping into his inner Devil again?

No, he’s just a desperate man doing desperate things, and, in the end, it will blow back on him. Already, he has some explaining to do because Chanel walked in on the volatile conversation between Johnny and Alex. What excuse will he conjure up this time to lie to his wife?
