Days of our Lives Casting Shocker: Madelyn Kientz Leaving as Sophia, Rachel Boyd Taking Over the Role

The new year means new faces on Days of our Lives, one of which will be a newcomer taking over the role of Sophia. By the middle of next month, Madelyn Kientz will be replaced by Rachel Boyd. 

Welcome Rachel Boyd

The news broke over the weekend, with TV Insider confirming the switcheroo. As of February 12, Rachel Boyd will take over the role of the teen drama Queen as Sophia faces new challenges. This is Boyd’s first soap role, but fans may recognize her from The Bold Type where she played Chelsea or as Willow in the movie Boot Camp.

What Comes Next?

We have to wonder what this means for the character. Will we see Sophia carry on with her pregnancy since her mother has forbidden her from accessing an abortion? And, if so, will this spell the end for Holly (Ashley Puzemis) and Tate (Leo Howard)? It was one thing for Holly to know her boyfriend slept with her bestie, but to raise a child together at this young age? She may not want to keep getting mixed up in that mess. 

A teen pregnancy and parenting storyline is sure to give Rachel Boyd, the daytime newcomer, an acting challenge. However, fans of Days of our Lives know that Salem is anything but predictable. Could there be a twist in the tale? With secrets, scandals, and heartbreak lurking in every corner, Sophia’s story might take a turn we never expected.

Rachel Boyd’s debut comes with high expectations, and it’ll be exciting to see her breathe new life into Sophia. Will she bring a softer, more vulnerable side to the character, or will she double down on Sophia’s fiery attitude? Either way, viewers are in for a treat.
