Days of our Lives Canadian fans were dealt a severe blow this week when Eastlink cable reported they will lose access to The W network, in addition to 33 other Corus Entertainment channels, due to an agreement unable to be reached during carriage negotiations with Corus Entertainment. Fans will still be able to catch DAYS on Peacock on the Global TV app but the episodes will be behind a day.

Days of our Lives: Negotiations Still Open

Die-hard DAYS fans may be down but not out. There may still be a chance to watch your favorite Salem characters and stories such as the love story of John (Drake Hogestyn) and Marlena (Deidre Hall), the DiMera family feuds, and the Brady family adventures. Broadcast Dialogue reported Corus was still open to further negotiations. Meanwhile, Eastlink’s Director of Public Affairs, Jill Laing, vowed that the company would offer the same number of channels with comparable programming such as Super Channel Heart and Home, Cottage Life, Discovery Channel, Smithsonian, FX, and Family in place of W Network.

Corus distributed channels include The W Network, HGTV Canada, and Showcase. Other channels such as Food Network, History, Slice, National Geographic, CMT, OWN, Disney Channel, Disney XD, Disney Junior, YTV, Cartoon Network, Treehouse, Movie Time, BC1, Global on Demand, DejaView, DTOUR, Magnolia Network, Crime Investigation, Lifetime, History 2, National Geographic Wild, ABC Spark, Cooking Channel, Adult Swim, Nickelodeon, Boomerang, Series Plus, Historia, Disney La Chaine, and Teletoon French will be affected.

Corus specialty channels will still be available via alternate channels such as The Global Tv app, STACKTV, Bell, Telus, Shaw Direct, and VMedia depending on subscribers’ locations. Global live TV service FuboTV quickly announced an entertainment subscription package for customers through the STACKTV platform which is also featured prominently via Amazon Prime Video.

The Nova Scotia-based Eastlink is privately controlled by the Bragg family and operates in seven provinces, which include Newfoundland, Prince Edward Island, Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Ontario, Alberta, and British Columbia serving more than 250,000 cable subscribers.
