Now that Philip doesn’t have to worry about Stephanie, and now that he does have to worry about adhering to the conditions Sarah set for keeping his secret, Philip made a move. In the Tuesday, January 21 episode of Days of Our Lives, Philip agreed to take up Xander’s cause. What chaos is that going to unleash on Salem?
Hostile Takeover
When Kayla (Mary Beth Evans) and Sarah (Linsey Godfrey) talked, Kayla mentioned how she thinks Stephanie (Abigail Klein) dodged a bullet when she broke up with Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). The good doctor thinks Philip is broken—permanently broken.
The same argument can be said for Xander (Paul Telfer). Loving Sarah has absolutely made him a better man. However, he repeatedly reverts back to his criminalistic instincts. In the last year alone, he attempted to kill Brady a couple of times.
When Philip suggested revisiting a hostile takeover of DiMera, Xander questioned his brother’s sudden approval, but the two hashed it out and came to an agreement.
Xander felt this was the time to go after the rival company. He noted that Stefan (ex-Brandon Barash), EJ (Dan Feuerriegel), and Chad (Billy Flynn) were no longer at DiMera. And that Kristen (Stacy Haiduk) was distracted.
Philip temporarily looked hesitant to capitalize on Kristen dealing with a missing Rachel (Finley Rose Slater). However, they both realized that if the roles were reversed, she wouldn’t hesitate to attack Titan. In fact, that’s exactly what she did with the serum and Sarah’s paralysis.

Unleashing Big Kiriakis Energy
We’re not sure this is what Sarah meant when she told Philip she’d keep his secret if he would work with her husband, not against him. She had high hopes that Philip would be able to rein in Xander. She said that she appreciated how Philip vetoed taking over DiMera.
Now that Xander and Philip are on the same page, the broken brothers will undoubtedly do shady things to snag DiMera and become an even more powerful conglomerate. The fact that they’re doing this while DiMera CEO Kristen is searching for her missing child definitely kicks things off on a shady note.
