Chad’s been tangling with the deadly Clyde for quite a while on Days of Our Lives. The story in which the villain forces Cat to pretend she is Chad’s dead wife, Abigail, to come back to life has some Kong-sized plot holes. But things are finally starting to reveal themselves. Chad’s real-world alter ego, Billy Flynn, opened up about working with Cat’s portrayer, AnnaLynne McCord.
Cat-titude is Everything
Chad wasn’t happy that Cat pretended to be Abby, while her brother Mark (Jonah Robinson) attempted to kill Chad after marrying Cat. The plan was to then steal all of Chad’s DiMera fortune and give it to Clyde (James Read) in exchange for her mother’s life. But now that we have met Mom, Catherina (Susan Elena Matus), it appears that she’s been brainwashed.
Flynn took the opportunity to praise new head writers Paula Cwikly and Jeanne Marie Ford to Soap Opera Digest. The actor is fond of where the duo will eventually lead Chad and Cat when their material takes over in spring 2025. The turn of events will represent a new era in DAYS’ writing.
“[The writers] have some stuff in the works that I think is going to make [the scheme Cat helped perpetuate] all make a little bit more sense,” Flynn thankfully stated, which will make the viewers’ lives easier. He also explained that Chad will be on the road to forgiving Cat for her deception, as he feels his character would understand that her actions were under duress by Clyde. Where There’s Sparks, There’s More Sparks
Flynn also explained that since he and McCord have chemistry in real life, then their characters do as well. “So I think if we do, then Chad and Cat do.” Whether or not the writing has improved, Flynn felt that when you got it, you got it, and stated, “I think AnnaLynne and I have that.”
He further explained that while Chad isn’t a shining example of goodness, he’s probably the most forgiving of the DiMeras. And coming from that family, Chad would have done the same thing that Cat did if it meant preventing Abigail’s death. But with these two headed for a possible romance, Flynn reassured the fans. “I’m never going to play Chad as if any other love is going to be as great as Abigail. But everybody needs to move on at some point.”
