Bill Hayes Remembered In Photo Gallery Tribute To An Icon

Bill Hayes, who passed away on Friday at the age of 98, will be forever remembered as Doug Williams on Days of our Lives, a show he first joined back in 1970. Along the way, he took part in many memorable stories and worked with some incredible co-stars.

Doug was one part of a legendary supercouple with Julie, played by Hayes’s real-life wife, Susan Seaforth Hayes. (See our interview with them, here.) Together, they changed the face of Salem, interacting with so many different characters and becoming the tent pole couple whom others gravitated to for help, guidance, advice, and so much more.

In recent years, some highlights included Doug becoming possessed by the Devil, where Hayes got the chance to be very naughty with both his actions and his words. He also got to be part of a song and dance routine with another icon — Dick Van Dyke (Timothy) as well as his wife.
