Robyn Griggs – In Memoriam

Griggs’s official Facebook shared the following on Saturday: “Hi everyone, With a heavy heart, I am saddened to announce Robyn’s passing. However, she is no longer suffering and would want us to remember that and the good memories. I will never forget how open she was to telling her story and accepting of me helping her tell it. She wanted to help people and spread the word of her story to do it. I was honored to do so. RIP my friend, I love you and smile when I think of you. 🙏🏻❤️”

The actress was born and raised in Pennsylvania. She began acting at the age of 3 in a production of Henrik Ibsen’s A Doll House. She learned to sing and landed the title role of Annie in the musical Annie in productions in Indianapolis, Indiana and also in Lancaster, York, and Lebanon, Pennsylvania.

From 1991-92, she played the part of Stephanie Hobart on One Life to Live. Next, she played Maggie Cory on AW from 1993-95. After she exited Bay City, Griggs signed a deal with RCA Records. She took time off from acting to spend with her family.

Griggs returned to acting in 2001, appearing in horror flicks Abattoir, Ghost Tour, and Minds of Terror. Demon Hunters, Aberration Boulevard, Severe Injuries, Dead Clowns, The Absence of Light, and Dead Planet followed. In 2015, Griggs played the part of Crazy Scream Queen in Joey Hollywood’s Movie Night 2.

A little over a year ago, Robyn Griggs took part in a Fireside Chat with Soap Hub in which she talked about her career and was candid about her ongoing battle with stage 4 Endocervical Adeno cancer, discovered after a routine pap smear.

On July 7, Griggs shared an update on her Facebook page. “Unfortunately, I have 4 new tumors,” she wrote, “2 new tumors on my liver, one on the abdominal muscle, and a large one on the right side lymph node. So in pain and I go to chemo Monday am. I told them whatever it takes, I’m in for the fight. I’ll be very sore, nauseous, etc., but who knows, maybe it works and relieves some pain. You never know. Please keep those prayers coming. Hugs to all!!!”

On August 11, a post appeared on Robyn Griggs’s social media page: “It is with deep sadness that we share the news from Robyn’s Father that Robyn will enter hospice care today or tomorrow. She has fought with determination, strength, and grace that is nothing short of inspirational.” Soap Hub sends sincere condolences to Griggs’s family, friends, and loved ones at this difficult time.
