As 2024 comes to a close in Salem, there are plenty of faces old and new we’d love to see more of on Days of our Livesand plenty we’d like to see less of.

More of You

Salem’s newest resident, Doug III (Peyton Meyer), is one who should stick around town for a long time. With a connection to The Hortons, a suspicious past, and an attraction to Holly (Ashley Puzemis), Doug III has all the ingredients to become a beloved Salemites in the new year.

Now that JJ (Casey Moss) has decided to stay in Salem, it’s time for this fan favorite to get a major storyline. Of course, he’ll be seen a lot with his return to the Salem PD and rekindling his relationship with Gabi (Cherie Jimenez), but this legacy character deserves a starring role in 2025.

Another character (or two!) who are always welcome back on our screens is Lani (Sal Stowers), and a return from Lani would most likely mean a return from Eli (Lamon Archey). This supercouple has been loved by fans for years, and while they often return home when they’re needed most,

Less of Them

After the chaos he caused this year, the person no one wants to see in Salem in 2025 is Philip (John-Paul Lavoisier). Always the more evil of a Kiriakis, Philip’s latest plot involves a forged letter and half a claim to Titan, much to his brother Xander’s (Paul Telfer) dismay. Hopefully, once the truth comes out, he’ll skip town again and let Stephanie (Abigail Klein) be with the man she belongs with.

A DiMera would always make this list, and right now, the one who needs to take a step back is Kristen (Stacy Haiduk). She doesn’t have much going on aside from her desperation for Brady (Eric Martsolf), and although she’s not behind the threatening texts, less of her would be ideal for Brady’s love life.

Ironically, so would less of Ava (Tamara Braun). The character had a great run between her romance with Harris (ex-Steve Burton, who had a special holiday gift for his fans), involvement with Clyde (ex-James Read), and parenting two very different adult sons, but less of Ava would make room for more of the next generation of badass women in Salem.
