Days of Our Lives (DOOL) star Mary Beth Evans has spent years advocating for children who can’t advocate for themselves, and now she’s being honored for her work.
According to Soaps In Depth, Evans will be honored on May 16 as a special volunteer for CASA of Los Angeles. She’ll receive The Robert Morrison Community Service Award for her years of work with the organization.
CASA of Los Angeles works with foster children, and Evans has been a child advocate for years, attending court dates and getting to know the children.
“It’s an appointed special advocate,” Evans told Soaps In Depth. “And you’re assigned by the court to the case of a kid who’s in foster care. You hear stories all the time about little kids in situations. They just need more eyes and ears on everybody.”
“It’s an amazing organization people should look into,” Evans said. “Because they need a billion more [volunteers].”
Evans, who has three grown children of her own, will receive her award at the group’s 6th Annual Evening to Foster Dreams Gala.
The actress is not the only DAYS star to work with foster kids, as Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa) has taken two foster children into her home over the last six months.
