When Days of our Lives decided to give Abe a long lost daughter, the show didn’t make up a relationship that never happened to produce the child. Instead, the writers dug into Abe’s past and made Lani’s mom be Tamara Price, brought to life by Marilyn McCoo from 1986-87. Now, after a 32-year absence, McCoo is coming back to Salem!
Soaps.com is reporting that McCoo is reprising her role as Tamara starting Friday, November 1. Billy Davis Jr., McCoo’s real-life husband, will also be appearing on the show. This isn’t the couple’s first daytime appearance together. They played themselves on the NBC serial Santa Barbara back in 1985.
The singing couple is best known for their 1976 hit You Don’t Have To Be A Star (To Be In My Show). The song sold over one million copies, becoming certified gold. The song won McCook and Davis a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals in 1977.
Eli (Lamon Archey) and Lani’s (Sal Stowers) wedding is coming up, so don’t be surprised if Tamara comes back to Salem in order to attend her daughter’s nuptials. If viewers are lucky, perhaps both she and Davis will perform on the show?
This isn’t the first wedding on DAYS that Tamara has attended. She’s a college pal of Marlena’s (Deidre Hall) and sang Up Where We Belong when Marlena “re-married” Roman (Drake Hogestyn), who later turned out to be John Black.
Will Eli and Lani tie the knot? With Gabi around, there could be lots of trouble. Stay tuned to find out. Days of Our Lives airs weekdays on NBC. Check local listings for air times.
