Why DAYS Is Quietly Turning Lexie Into More of a DiMera Than a Carver

Lexie’s resurrection is turning into something far more complicated than a miracle.

Bringing Lexie back from the dead was always going to create complications. Days of Our Lives was never going to resurrect one of Salem’s most beloved characters just to have her return exactly as she left. The moment Lexie opened her eyes, the show planted a question in the background: what if coming back changed her? After this week’s scenes with EJ, that question suddenly feels a lot more important because Lexie seems to be leaning into parts of herself that Abe may not be thrilled to recognize.

Key Takeaways

  • Lexie is showing signs of her DiMera side.
  • EJ appears impressed by Lexie’s darker instincts.
  • Lexie acknowledges her struggle between the influences of DiMera and Carver.
  • Abe continues avoiding conflict over Paulina.
  • Paulina may be key to keeping Lexie grounded.

EJ Likes What He Sees

EJ (Dan Feuerriegel) spent most of his visit with his sister explaining the impossible circumstances surrounding Lexie’s (Nikki Crawford) resurrection, but what really caught his attention was her attitude. The second Lexie started unloading on Paulina (Jackée Harry), EJ looked almost impressed. In fact, he seemed far more excited about her sharp edges than concerned by them.

That reaction matters because EJ knows a DiMera when he sees one. He practically raised himself inside Stefano’s school of manipulation, grudges, and revenge. So when Lexie started showing flashes of ruthlessness, he did not recoil. He smiled. That should probably make everybody a little nervous.

Even Lexie acknowledged the struggle herself before EJ left. She reminded him that she and Theo (Tyler Joseph Andrews) are both DiMeras and Carvers. The problem is that the show would not be emphasizing that internal tug-of-war unless it planned to explore it further. Right now, the DiMera side appears to have all the momentum.

Abe May Need Paulina More Than Ever

Meanwhile, Abe (James Reynolds) continues handling conflict the way a man handles a suspicious noise in the basement… by turning up the television volume. Theo practically handed him an opening to discuss Paulina moving out, and Abe immediately started looking for an exit ramp.

That avoidance worked when Lexie was gone because there was no immediate family crisis staring him in the face. Now she is back, angry, confused, emotionally raw, and potentially embracing some of the worst impulses in her family tree. Suddenly, Abe may need help keeping the household balanced.

And that is where Paulina comes in. Love her or hate her, Paulina never struggles to tell people exactly what they need to hear. If Lexie continues drifting toward her DiMera instincts, Abe’s gentle approach may not be enough. The show may be setting up a situation where bringing Lexie home forces Abe and Paulina back onto the same side. Because if Salem has learned anything over the years, it is that when a DiMera starts embracing their darker side, standing around hoping it sorts itself out rarely ends well.
